How We Built Yuremane.com
Intro
In May of 2024, we helped launch yuremane.com, and have maintained the site through 3 subsequent merchandise drops and serving over 80,000 users worldwide. In this blog post, I will describe the design, development and post launch process that has now become standard for our clients.
Design
After being referred to him by a friend, Nick sent us a sketch of what he envisioned, and Garrett began working on turning it into a Figma design immediately. I was quite surprised at first, as I didn’t expect him to create a vector for each line of the background, truly defining what it means to be hand-crafted.
Nick also expressed to us his desire for a custom font, something that was completely new to us at the time. In the end, Garrett created a custom font using hand-traced letters provided by Nick to us for us to use for every piece of the website.
Development
After roughly a week of design, it was time to get our hands dirty and make sure Garrett’s design could work well on all devices. While Garrett implemented the design, I got to work setting up Shopify, Google Analytics, Vercel and more. The trickiest part was ensuring that the product would release on time, and that our servers were operating in the correct time zone, which took many hours of testing.
Post-Launch
Yuremane’s first drop, along with 2 subsequent others since then, have been nothing but resounding successes both from a user experience and site reliability stand point. With a peak usage of 5,000 concurrent users, both Vercel and Shopify’s infrastructure held alongside our own in-house query system.
